Need to know two things:

1. How long would it take you guys to rough-in a 2500 sq.ft, 2-story colonial style house with an underground service..

4 BR; 3 Bath; Dryer; 130 Devices(openings)
Water Heater; Dishwasher; Disposal;4 CATV/Phone

2. The average price to wire this house with underground service included?

Just a ball park figure would be fine.

I'd shoot for a $6K minimum figure, code minimums, plastic boxes, residential grade devices.

Ceiling Fans, Recessed Cans, Dimmers, and any other fancy thing is extra.

Spell out exactly what the price covers and what it doesn't in your proposal. I use materials lists and/or electrical plans submitted with my proposal to illustrate what is included.

<disclaimer> This may be a terribly high price for some places, and terribly low for others.</disclaimer>

I kind of think me and the boys would be a little closer to 60 hours ourself. But $6000 would be fair. And make sure they pay for all extra they always want. $6000 is just a to code wire.
A guy called me a couple of months ago and wanted me to help him get a electrical estimate toegether for a new contracted house hed had. I talked to him for a while and he had a 2800 sq. ft. 3 car garage , he says he thinks a $1 a sq. ft. should get his bid in line to get the job. I told him about 2 1/2 times that was the going rate, he about died, says his dad and some helpers could do $2800 and have some leftover to play with. $7000 didn't seem like too much on a $179,000 house, he couldn't come up with the diffenece in his and mine estimate. he never called back, lucky me.

The building contractor head cheese (not the general) for the "big job" asked me how much per sq ft we charge, I gave him the "about $2.5 to $3" answer, with disclaimers, and he said:

"I know a crew who does it for $1 per sq ft., and they'll be done in three days."

"I said: I'd like to know how, I can barely buy materials for that!"

Thats laughable and he said in 3 days at the going rate, I figure 4 guys at 3 days, at 45/hr is $4320.

My question would be at 1.00/sq the Service must be an extra ? Whose putting that in [Linked Image]
