This Pandmounted Transformer came into our shop for repair. I wonder why. This hanger looks like it was attached with a self drilling screw. It must have taken the electrician a while to drill through 1/4" steel. What a surprise once he was through. I'll bet you he was running real fast.

Hi Mark: I'm assuming that he used a screw of such length that he tapped into one of the windings inside?

OOOWWWWWW! [Linked Image] That must've hurt!

Any pix of the interior?

Not yet, Mike. I will send another photo once we open it up. Hopefully it wasn't a long screw.

Wow Mark!. [Linked Image]
By the looks of things, he struck oil anyway.
What size transformer is this BTW?.

Mike :]

P.S: Reminds me of a guy here that drilled into the side of a Stainless 25000 litre Milk vat with a holesaw thinking it was a double skin type.
Oops, only single skin and full of milk!. [Linked Image]

The size was a 75KVA. I say WAS besause it ended up being scrapped. There were other issues to address and it wasn't worth fixing. From the looks of other units the core is around 8" from the side depending on the size of the transformer.
