I've got a thread someplace around here with a "custom" faceplate job like this... Although the one I saw would actually be kinda on the rare side if you could get it at all... (triplex despard & duplex recept, 2 gang) The GFI/toggle switch plate can be found at any Home Depot... As for the garage door opener, I've seen it all! I've even caught a certain nationwide department store chain installing the openers & then supplying extension cords for them! More than one H.O. has gotten reimbursed for installing the proper wiring & outlet for these.

Doug: You're actually right on the dollar; the opener is THE only load in this garage, so that's one positive thing going for 'em!

Randy, its the Service work... Most of us see one job every day for months. You might hit five jobs a day, and they only call you if it's NOT working.... You also (it sounds like) cover LA to SD, and parts east. Man, that's a huge area. That's millions of bad HO installs waiting for you.

The odds are against you. You see more in more places than most of us. Wear it like a badge of honor..... At least someones trying to keep up!

i have one service call sometime back with machine shop and they called me to request bunch of plastic covers because of metal shaving blowing out the twistlock repectales btw yeah they are 480 volts 3 phase suckers and to slove it i redesign it to prevent metal shaving going in there by useing the in use weather proof 2 gang box cover it work slick to keep the metal shaving off [ the cost about 13 buck each and i do 50 of the twist lock each and add the markup you get the idea ]

but few other place do win hand me down is home made covers some are really disgusting outright

How 'bout those "sectional" or "modular" coverplates I see at the Home Depot??

You can make any configuration, as-many-gang plate as you want from them.

They look like absolute crap when they're done.

I've used them as temporaries while waiting for special order plates.

This picture isn't much worse IMO. At least it's out in the garage

Are my eyes deceiving me or is that zip cord??? What the heck is it doing there???
