If this was in Japan, it might meet code. I was in Japan for a week some years ago, and everything there (buildings, cars, desks, elevators, etc) are about 2/3 the linear size compared to America. But this looks like an American installation. Japanese wiring did not impress me, wonder how it works without catching fire.... (Their line voltage is lower than ours, 100V).

Yes, the Japanese do love cord.
I've got a customer that's HQ'd in Osaka, and it's a continuous battle to keep them from using cord for everything, regardless of where they are.

I've likened it to a person coming from the UK, and driving down the left side of the street, and they still don't get it...(no offense to those from the UK, Paul)...S

I think they are UF cables.
