This high-tech installation of sensor lights, cameras, Romex, and zip cord was done after the owner of a horse ranch experienced a breakin in one of his outbuildings.

(Now all he needs is an automatic dialer to the fire dept)...S

Horse ranches in Anaheim?

[Electure, you missed a business opportunity here. Upgrading to dual lampholders on the 2x4 would allow for convenient drying of both boots.]

Any REAL cowboy would have hooked up an electric fence transformer to his doors, gates, etc.

Now that has to be the roughest install I've seen in a while.
I once saw a guy(a wannabe security installer), that had a long(I mean 40') of TPS(like Romex) cable tied around his upstairs balcony railing, connected to an outdoor socket-outlet, that wasn't on an RCD, but just had the wires poked into the slots of the socket.
And this fed his whole "alarm" system and security lighting installation, that was over the other side of his property.
I told him to take it down, before I "saw" it.
I later found out from his wife, that the back gate was livened at 230V, too!.
He dealt in Drugs, I have no time for these sorts of people!. [Linked Image]

"A horse ranch in Anaheim?"... Well, not quite. I used to know lots of "Cheap" horse traders in Riverside County, and still know a few.
Unfortunately, all of them seem to be Eelektrishuns, too, and this is pretty much the norm for their work.
Most of the wire used comes in junk boxes from the stock auctions, and the rest is available on their trips to the Home Depot.
(The zip cord is tied to the 2x4 with the twine from a bale of hay, the industry standard)..S

I would have not said anything and left it like that....it may mean one less scumbag eventually. [Linked Image]

Seriously speaking, though, I'm a big-mouth....I probably wouldn't be actually able to do such a thing in good concience and would mostly have done exactly what you did.

Yeah, but Sven,
The chances of the WRONG person contacting the gate was a real issue it only cleared the ground by 3"!.
