Check existing service equipment at remodel. Looked around to actually find it... It was in a dog-house under an over-hang of the house, had to crotch to get to it. I open the dog-house door, and see a note to POCO, "Water comes out of meter, what should we do?" I think, well that a strange note? Lets open up and take a look.... I start at the main, which is above the meter.... Well what do you know, water in ther too, and an attempt to correct the problem by filling conduit with foam. I don't think I want to open the meter now.... Also notice that there is NO GEC at all, no rods, no water... and the main has two 2" KO's missing. I call this a "Just start over Service"

I like the fancy cutout in the wood so the meter can fit through. That's cute. lol

My uncle had a 'water powered' meter pan similar to this one. Water was running into his house and main panel. The breakers and entire panel were slowly rusting away. He was smart and called a sparky to have it fixed correctly. New panel and new entrance with proper fittings and weep holes to help prevent future issues.

So is the water just runoff from above getting into the open hole in the top or is there more fun stuff happening here. Obvious violation of Article 110.Stupid.12(A).
Are there any fastners holding this pan to the wall/board or is it standing on the conduit.

RSlater,
RSmike

Sounds like a good place for an EYS seal off [Linked Image]

If its airtight enough for hazardous locations, it should be pretty water tight [Linked Image]
