Pic #1 - Lighting contactors mounted on a wood backer.

Pic #2 - A 2P contactor installed in an old time clock box that operates a hot water heater via 24V coil via EMS. They tell me they have no hot water, wonder why?

What's up with the red wire attaching to the top left of the 2P contactor in pic 2? It looks badly scorched. Time clock can looks sorta sooty too.

The original call was for "no hot water." The red wire is actually severed. It actually took us 30+ minutes to locate this closet and the contactor. It is +-100ft from the hot water heater.
