Kiwi: That's not a transformer, that's a terminal block, and even if those buttons were 120VAC, you'd only get fried if it shorted out, since they're usually insulated.
Is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

I believe the PPB (ped push button) are not hot. The blue wires get shorted to neutral to give a call to the controller.

I remember this intersection, Via De La Valle & El Camino Real.. This light was installed during what I think was supposed to be the complete reconfiguration of the intersection... Anyone in the San Diego area know if this is still like this? BTW, this is county jurisdiction here.. not San Diego city
There was something similar in south Orange County along the El Toro Rd widening project... although not quite this bad..

Yea That violates Artical 314.15 in a bad way. it needs to be a bit dryer or mayby not, but then agian it remindes me of something that the City of Petal Would probably try to do.

I knew there was a reason why I never touched those push-button switches on the traffic light poles. Not to mention that they never work anyway - it's just a frustration release mechanism for pedestrians.

That pole gets hit all the time and the lights take alot of abuse. They have been working on that intersection for a long time and no sign of finishing any time soon. Rod
