I received the following question from a member who is having trouble with his password.

Does anyone know if there is a code in Ontario Canada that states the pump to a whirlpool/jacuzzi tub should be accessable?

My whirlpool tub has an access door but the pump is 48" inside and is unreachable unless you tear out the tub and remove the ceramics?

Access is always required; there are many creative ways like putting a hatch in the next room or having a planter on top.....

2-118 Installation of Electrical Equipment

Electrical equipment shall be so installed as to ensure that after installation there is ready access to nameplates and access to parts requiring maintenance.

I've seen some guys cut a hole to access the pump and then place a return-air grill over the hole. Looks dumb, but works fine.
