334.12(A)(2)(as revised by Mass) allows the use of romex above suspended ceilings in other than dwellings.

300.11(A)(2)(as revised by Mass) says...

Nonfire-Rated Assemblies. Branch-circuit wiring associated with equipment that is located within, supported by, or secured to a suspended ceiling that is not an integral portion of a fire-rated floor/ceiling or roof/ceiling assembly shall be permitted to be supported by the ceiling support wires.


So does this mean that we can run romex above a dropped ceiling , supported by the ceiling support wires, if the ceiling is not a fire-rated assembly?
