I hate it when that happens. Several years ago I was approaching an intersection at about 55 mph. The light turned yellow, and I realized that I would run the red light. So, I decided to swerve over onto the shoulder of the road. As all this was happening, I managed to look in my rear view mirror. I watched a silver car behind me run the red light. As I skid to a stop on the shoulder, the truck behind the silver car drove off the road, onto the shoulder, and hit me. I said to myself, "Self....you just avoided an accident, and someone else hit you. Self, you did the right thing. Self, you have nothing to worry about." After the long arm of the law showed up, I said to myself, "Self, (I really said that)...self, you just got a ticket." The long arm of the law reached out again, 9 months later, and I said to myself, "Self, that guy has filed a lawsuit against you." About 6 months after that I was sitting in some lawyer's (my insurance's attorney) corner office on about the 40th floor of a building in downtown Houston. I said to myself, "Greg, (this time I said Greg, not self)...Greg, this guy (Tae Kwon Do expert, he had pictures of himself whipping the "crap" out of other guys all over his office walls) is going to get you out of this." My insurance paid the guy $16,000.00, plus replaced his truck.
