hi,
when will the 2002 NEC be adopted. it seems to me that it is kinda pointless to reference an outdated version? wouldnt it be wiser to concentrate on the new requirements?

if a jurisdiction has not adopted the new code yet then they should make it automatic upon availability to the public.

i dont even keep old code books anymore...

-regards

frodo

Frodo,
Adoption of new codes is a legal process that has to be taken on by each jurisdiction. Due to funding, time and whatever other excuses they can come up with adoption lags behind considerably. Most jurisdictions by me are still using the ’96 code.
If you are getting rid of old codebooks send them my way! My ’93 and ’96 disappeared on jobs a while back. I would like to replace them

In my area it goes into effect 01 jan 02, however our inspectors usually take about two months to get up to speed themselves as far as enforcement goes.
