Does anyone have any info on this test.

A sample exam would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Pat

Pat,

I assume that you are talking about some type of competancy exam that would allow a Homeowner to perform his/her own Electrical work. I have heard of such things but never seen one. I would suggest you look more at a local level. And if you do find anything on this I would be interested in seeing what was on the Exam.

Good Luck,

Thanks. Yes that is what the test is for but the fact that they are very vague about what the exam covers makes me wonder if it's not just designed to discourage home owners from doing their own wiring.

The only help they would give was that it covered the first 3 chapters of the National Electric Code.

That includes a ton of material not related to house wiring

Pat,

I would suggest a good book on residential wiring as per the NEC. The questions on the exam would probably be limited to those normally associated with Residential wiring.
