Some of the old timers were real artists. In NY about 1962 the New York Life Insurance Building on Madison Ave. was undergoing an upgrade. Walking past one day, I saw about 70-80 4ā€¯ GRS that began in the basement, up a ramp to 1st, then vertical. The transition from the ramp to the 1st to the vertical was magnificent. The concentric bends were the most outstanding workmanship that I have ever witnessed. It intrigued me to the point that I would take a look nearly every time I walked past. I wish that I had pictures.
It is sad to say but based upon experience of the past 58 years, that quality of work is a lost art.
