Ufer got its name from Mr. Herbert Ufer.

He was the creator of the electrode, but he is not THE CREATOR

The IAEI Soares' Book on Grounding is an indispensable reference for Ufer history and a lot of other grounding topics. Even an older, used edition has a lot of good material.
