We are a small mainly residential shop that is starting to branch out to larger apartment/condo buildings. We are debating the advantages/disadvantages of joining the IBEW versus hiring qualified non-union electricians. What are your thoughts? It would be helpful to consider issues we haven't yet thought of.

My thought is this is not a subject that can be rationally debated here.

It quickly degenerates into one side against the other.

I agree with Bob and Russell, even with the best intentions these conversations can get heated and would be best discussed in private emails.

So, I would suggest that all who would like to offer opinions to Alwire do it in emails please.
