Why is the coloring in the photographs so weird-looking?

Is it for emphasis and reference to portions of the text?

These images were enhanced by an artist who was trying to add his special touch to them.

The images in the book are black and white.

Joe,

Just let me say that I have your book and I read it from cover to cover. I look back into it from time to time for reference too. It belongs on my electrical library with the NEC, Soares, and the UL books. Keep up the good work.

HE
