I've always disliked floor receptacles, viewing older ones tend to be an influence.

But they are sometimes necessary, as well as requested.

As i usually install few of them, what i'd like to know is what type is the best/user friendly one marketed.

I have a wood floor, and a brass cover plate(s) are requested.

any input appreciated

~Steve

I was in a house that had several floor receptacles, mounted flush, facing up, with no cover on them. Steer clear with the floor washing gear!

I wish floor receptacles were made with "No-Lose" screw covers - you know some sort of spring-loaded twist-open cover or something.

At my old univ. library, I remember a bunch of floor receptacles with missing screw-covers.

These receptacles would be installed for use with lamps on study tables. But of course every so often, furniture would be rearranged and the unused receptacles would be left uncovered. Lord only knows what the maintenance men did with these aluminium pellets.

Would pose a nice tripping hazard for women walking in high-heel shoes.

Sven, Hubbell makes just what you are talking about for up to 20 amp duplex outlets.

It is a hinged cover out of brass or stainless steel, they do not get "lost" unless they are not latched shut when not in use, then they can get kicked and broken off.

I recently used the Pass and Seymour floor box for wooden floors. It worked beautifully. Lots of finishes available including brass. Catalog number is TM1542
