Could have the cats, been responsible for this?.
Sort of like, just "marking their territory",
you did note that they were keeping their distance once you got home.
As you have no Butler(you don't do you?), I blame it all on the cats!.

The Cats are still a little freaked out, so must have been a crazy event!!!

I am the Butler to the Cats, so I must have done it {LOL @ the Butler thing too!).
Just the thought of me having a Butler is funny! Instead of Household chores, the Butler would be Writing VBA Instances + AutoLisps, and working on CAD files!
