I may be staring at the code book for too long but I am trying to get my head around exactly what 8-108 is saying. It says for houses sufficient space "shall be provided" and "spaces shall be left". So if I install 2 - two pole 35 amp breakers for devices and walk away from the installation do I still need to leave 2- two pole spaces in addition to two additional spaces which I assume are single pole? And what if I dont install the 35 amp two pole breakers?

Also for apartment,if I install one 35 amp two pole breaker how many spaces do I need to leave when I walk away from that installation? What if I dont install a 35 amp two pole breaker how many do I need to leave? The wording for apartment does not include the "shall be left" comment.
