I have been working on the recertification of a mobile home. The main Panel is 100 amp but is feed by only #6 teck cable protected at 60 amps at the disconnect. the inspector wants this cable rated for 100 amp saying one day the mobile home park will have to upgrade all services too 100 amp.

my next question is I thought ceiling fans had to be mounted to a box that is suitable for fan mounting.
I have no idea if the original box is suitable for fan mounting and have no idea how to put a fan rated box in the ceiling of a mobile home, so we removed the fans and installed key less .
the customer asked the inspector about this and inspector said he knew of no rule where a suitable box had to be installed for a fan.

Any ideas would be helpful.

---"recertification of a mobile home."

I have heard this before. But what exactly does it mean?

Is it a change of tenant? a change of location? or what?

Or an actual Recreational vehicle? We call trailer parks here.. "mobile homes", even though they have not moved in 30 +- years, and are up on blocks.

Ok, Now I see. For Re-Sale.
Must you also recert existing Homes (permanent dwellings)on a re-sale?
Thank you.

Most modern mobile homes are certified by attaching an approval lable. For a lot of years there was no inspection of mobile homes. the years revealed that some of these mobile homes were not made all that well nor wired to the code. Now any mobile home that does not have a lable needs to be inspected before it can be reconnected and apparently resold too.

My issue is that the connection box under the moblie that is part of the park distrubution may not handle #3 for box fill and lugs. This is a very old mobile home park.
the connection box is very small.

So,If I understand correctly.

These are 'Permanent' residences, only in 'mobile homes' that that are not 'mobile' (read North East USA 'Trailer park').
Or 'prefab' homes?

If that is the case, The USA (in general) would displace many many people)

#1 They are set up like condos. No land use.
#2 They are typically rentals (low income) and the land lord won't fix anything.
