I was looking over some material I got in the latter part of last year. It is saying that AFCI's are now required to be in most areas of a dwelling, and not just in the bedrooms. Is this something that still is required or has it been amended since?? If it still goes, this is going to increase the cost of wiring quiet a bit. Thanks Steve...

According to the 2008 NEC, whatever isn't GFI will need to be on an AFCI circuit breaker (I've oversimplified somewhat).

When figuring your extra cost...remember that sharing neutrals results in most of these things not working right.

I guess not enough people objected during the NEC adoption process.

Thats the appeal of the 12-2-2 and 14-2-2 vs the old way of 12-3 or 14-3.

Design-Build isn't supposed to mean design *as* you build.

what is 12-2-2, 14-2-2? Is it 12/3 with an extra nuetral? Do they sell it?

2008 NEC + amendments. January, 1, 2008-- Accepted and enforced in Massachusetts.

It's about the only legislation they can seem to get passed and agree on. But thats a good thing. Coz' the other crazy poop they think of aint worth poop.

So in short.. Grid lock is good. " no harm, no foul"!!
