I'm doing a small tenant fit up. In addition to the 40 recessed lights I've already installed in this space, I have a few pendant lights to mount. The issue I'm having is that the ceiling is a 4'by 4' acoustical ceiling tile. I've seen other jobs where these tiles were used however all the lights I saw installed were half a@@ED. I can't seem to come up with a U.L. listed box support, i.e. caddy 512, or the like that will span a 4 foot tile. There is about 5' between the ceiling grid and the fire rated sheetrock/and joists above. I already have Jack chain installed. Was hoping to avoid any monsterous contraptions. Any ideas?? Part numbers would be awesome..

How much do these fixtures weigh?

I have in the past (with great results) used these lags, They are a combo used by pipe fitters and the like.
They are a lag on one end and a trhreaded rod coupling on the other, They are designed to lag into a wood joist and attach threaded rod to the other end.

Some lock nuts and and another rod coupling. Sometimes you will need to make an offset in the rod to get it right.
One rod usualy works, but if their heavey, use two.

This is quick and simple, And lags can hold a good deal of weight.
