I use the #153 a lot when I am splicing small stranded wires (soldered). It allows you to slide a small diameter shrink tube over it for a very smooth splice in the run of a wire. When I am using fixture wires I will wrap it with one strand of a stranded 14/12 THHN.

I really need to snoop around in here more often....you made me dig out my Handbook.. !!

I gave my Ninth to someone years back and have the Tenth, which does NOT contain these pages...to bad for me. thanks for posting them however
