Product: Southwire Company's two conductor AC90 cable manufactured with RW90 XLPE 12AWG copper conductors produced in 2005.

Notice: The insulation on the copper conductors may shrink back exposing the bare copper at the terminations, which could result in an electrical short circuit. A limited amount of this product may have shrink back in excess of the standard.

Description: The shrink back problem is limited to two conductor AC90 cable manufactured with RW90 XLPE 12AWG copper conductors produced in 2005 between March 1st through April 25th and November 1st through the December 31st. This information can be found on the product label found on the cable reel.

Remedy: If the product has not been installed, it should be returned to Southwire Company. If the product has been installed, shrink back usually occurs after the insulated conductor is cut, resulting in the insulation pulling away from the end of the copper conductor in excess of the standard. After the conductor is cut, shrink back usually occurs within the first hour. After the insulation has shrunk back, the exposed copper conductor can be trimmed and safely terminated. If the cable was terminated immediately after cutting the conductors, the terminated ends should be inspected to ensure the insulation has not pulled away from the terminations exposing the bare copper conductor.

Contact Information: For additional information, contact Southwire Company between 8 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday. Contact: Doug Dunbar, P.O. Box 1149, Stouffville, Ontario L4A 8A2, Phone: 905-640-4333 ext 644, or Fax: 905-640-5607
