Inquest in the Death of Paramjit Randhawa Announced

Aug 18, 2005 13:00 -- GUELPH, ON, Aug. 18 /CNW/ - Dr. Karen J. Acheson, regional supervising coroner for Central West Ontario, today announced that an inquest will be held in the death of Paramjit Randhawa.

Mr. Randhawa died June 27, 2003 while working as an electrician at a construction site in Mississauga. Mr. Randhawa was upgrading an electrical panel when a flash ignited his clothing causing him to suffer major burns.

Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a worker dies as a result of an accident occurring at a construction project.

The inquest is expected to last two days and hear from approximately eight witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14th, 2005, at the Ramada Inn, 155 Chisholm Street, Milton, Ontario. Dr. David Schooling will preside as inquest coroner.
