CPSC, New York Zion Trading Corp. Announce Recall of Electric Fans
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announces the following recall in voluntary cooperation with the firm below. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of product: Portable oscillating electric fans
Units: About 2,500
Importer/Distributor: New York Zion Trading Corp., of Flushing, New York
Hazard: The wiring is undersized and the power plug is not polarized, creating fire and shock hazards.
Incidents/Injuries: No reports of incidents. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injuries.
Description: The recall involves 16-inch diameter 3-speed oscillating fans which mount on adjustable stands. â€śNYZTâ€ť appears in the center of the front fan guard. The model numbers, FS-1601A and FS-1607C, are found on a silver label on the back of the controls. The fans come in two color combinations: either blue and white, or all gray.
Sold at: Discount and variety stores in the New York City metropolitan area sold these electric fans during May 2004 for about $10.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should stop using these fans immediately and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
