I like the idea of this and it would sure relieve alot of concerns about island receptacles if it were to be required on all appliances.

The new "break-away" power cord is held to the deep fryer by a magnet. It operates safely and effectively when it is placed on a counter near an electrical outlet. However, if someone pulls on the cord, it will quickly and smoothly break away from the deep fryer, preventing tipover. This will help prevent the terrible scald burns.

interesting concept, i wonder about this 'magnetic' connections ability to ampacity? Or it's exposure via disconnection? is this used elsewhere?

We were given a RIVAL deep fryer for Christmas 2 years ago with one of these cords. The fryer works great and the cord works fine. Even with this, we don't let the Grand kids around when frying, but the cord would do it's job if needed.

Minor aside: Some fire trucks and ambulances have clever solenoid-operated “breakaway/ejector” flanged inlets that push {disconnect} 120V battery-charger/engine-heater (NEMA 5-15) cord connectors out from the vehicle when their engines are started.
