DeSoto County man electrocuted
The Associated Press

COCKRUM — A 45-year-old man died Thursday while reportedly tampering with an electrical transformer near Cockrum community home in DeSoto County.

County Coroner Jeff Pounders identified the victim as Andrew Williams.

Pounders said Friday that electricity to the trailer had been cut off by the utility company and Williams was apparently trying to reconnect service.

Williams had stacked several cinder blocks at the base of a utility pole and placed an aluminum ladder on top of the bricks to reach a transformer, said Pounders.

The charge threw Williams from the ladder and he landed on a pickup truck and then fell to the ground. His body was not discovered until Friday.

Let's see:

Aluminum Ladder + Between 4160 and 7200 Volts (more than likely) = Darwin Award Nomination.
