I've seen this term used before, by a certain member of ECN. What does it mean?. Help, please!!!!. I hope that it is not a derogatory term?. Also, I am not looking to flame the person who used these terms. [This message has been edited by Trumpy (edited 02-08-2003).] [This message has been edited by Trumpy (edited 02-08-2003).]

Trumpy, I've seen whole lists of these acronyms. Some of them are getting so ridiculous these days that 99% of people probably don't understand them! Anyways, here are a few more common ones that are fairly widely used, off the top of my head: AFAIK = As Far As I Know BTW = By The Way FWIW = For What It's Worth IIRC = If I Recall Correctly LOL = Laughs Out Loud Then there are ones like SNAFU and FUBAR which pre-date the Internet by many years! SNAFU = Situation Normal, All Fouled Up FUBAR = Fouled Up Beyond All Recognition (They're the polite versions..... )

<Trivia> These Acronyms were originally used when BBS's and user equipment had memory space limitations - and connection speed / types were the old and slow grand daddies of yesterday (AKA 300 Baud MODEMS). </Trivia>
A few others:
TLA = Three Letter Acronym, TIA = Thanks In Advance, OTC = On The Contrary, AFK = Away From Keyboard, BBS = Bulletin Board System / Service, BG = Big Grin, IMO = In My Opinion, IMHO = In My Honest / Humble Opinion, IMNSHO = In My Not So Humble Opinion, ROTF = Rolling On The Floor, LMAO = Laughing My A** Off, LOL = Laughing / Laughs Out Loud, BTW = By The Way, CUL = See You Later, FYI = For Your Information, NG = News Group.
Smilees are also spawned from BBS posts!
