I am going to be running PVC conduit along an exterior wall from my existing main panel to my garage to feed a new 100 amp subpanel. I figure that a single 1-3 romex run should be well suited for this particular application, my question is, what size of conduit would be best suited for this?

Are you an Electrician?
Reason I say that, is because your profile doesn't suggest it, through lack of information.
Most Electricians would know how this should be done.
We don't as a rule give out information on DIY jobs here
