Hi Joe:
No, not an electrician, but definitely someone with a death wish. I think I may have seen this one before. Is this an energy theft incident?

It's amazing that he could hack open that conduit, skin the conductors and put on those bugs without frying something.

Yes, this was an energy theft photo where the use was for illegal drugs using lots of lights for growth.

It looks like the split bolts [bugs] were wrapped rather professionally. Cab't say as much for the sheet metal work.
Why is that conduit leaning at that angle?

When you are talking about the lure of drug money, a lot of things can happen. Maybe a real electrician was enticed by a % of the profit. I'd guess there might be some more good wiring inside the house to handle all the grow lights.

I think that the guy must have been smoking allot of his own product. He must have been high to think that the meter reader wouldn't see the mess.

My impression was that the conduit was ripped loose to expose the illegal tap when it was discovered by some other means. I'd guess the pipe was originally flush against the wall and the hack and peal job was done from the inside with very little indication on the outside of the building.
