Does any one know where I can find old telephone hand sets so I can make a set of ring out phones or where I can buy a set already made?

I was on a job walk yesterday and there was a pile of at least 50 phones in a vacant building........ have you tried EBay?

Not exactly sure what you mean by "ring out phones". I'll assume that you want to connect two handsets in series with some sort of battery and use them to communicate. For what purpose I don't know, I did that when I was a kid. Now I can afford Nextels and radios.

Most of the handsets in use today will not function this way. You need to find a pair of handsets that use a carbon mic such as from the 2554 type sets.

I do instrument junction boxes. There will be two hundred or more single pairs I have to identify and terminate. My helper will hook one phone to the black wire in the pair at the instrument and to the conduit. Then I will hook the other phone to the conduit and consecutive black wires one at a time at the junction box until I hear the connection. Then I can talk to the helper on the other phone on the wire I am marking so we are sure to mark the wires the same on both ends. Right now I have to borrow a set from the tool room.
