It would be a great way to install surround sound speakers though.

Some of this is similar (vaguely) to FCC here in the states. FCC (Flat Carpet Cable) is not 'common', but it shows up on occasion. Only to be installed under carpet tiles.

I think this is Brazil or something like that. I suppose it would fail standards testing in most civilised countries due to its lack of mechanical strength.

Please tell me that was a joke I cant believe something that dangerouse is allowed did anyone else notice the complete lack of earthing? I think this might be ok at 12 volts but not on 220/240 imagine if you had a damp wall.

Nope...it definitely exists (although I wish it didn't).

Its use on walls is VERY limited (fortunately), and it can only be used on the floor (legally) if the floor is covered by carpet tiles less than 1 meter square.

Along with Ghost307 comments, the FCC also has a metal 'sheet' that goes over it, along with an adhesive tape.

If I remember from the last time I installed it, there's a underlayment, the FCC, an overlayment, the sheetmetal, and the wide tapelike cover.

Also, it is not an 'easy' install, but was a PITA!
