I have been asked to install a track lighting system in a shop for lighting up display shelves etc

The systems I have found all seem a bit pricey to me. Have any UK based members got any advice on good suppliers or what systems to go for?

They are looking for an 8m track / wire system (either 240V or 12V) with 8 spotlights. The track will just be one straight line so I don't need too many fancy fixtures!

Thanks

'Screwfix' cable suspended D92502-79 GU5.3 20w 12v halogens [5 off per set] @ £37.99. 5 spots per string. 2 sets = free delivery. Longest span I've seen is about 5 metres for this sort, so an intermediate [isolated] support is called for with a transformer at each end.
Adjustable Spots model D16071-79, similar @ £59.99 with 5 off 35W x 12v spots, 5m span. More versatile, the cables can run round walls and ceilings. 1 set = free delivery.
Ordering online is easy. [Google]
Terrific service, use them regularly.

They are indeed fast and efficient. If it's in the catalog, it's in stock, and I've ordered at 6 or 7 p.m. one day and had it delivered next afternoon. Probably going to be a little slower to the IoM though.

Looking in the current BDC catalog at Micromark lighting (all exc. VAT):

240-volt:
MM31481 2m white track, £11.09 (5+)
MM31487 Universal spot 100W R80 or Par38, £4.03 ea. (5+)
MM31488 Spotlight, Par20 or R63, 60W, £3.94 ea. (5+)
MM31489 Spotlight, Par30 or R80, 100W, £4.38 ea. (5+)
GU10 spots avilable at around £6 to £7 each.

Not sure about delivery to IoM though. Nearest depot appears to be Manchester, which is also the main export office.

Pauluk also recently put me onto;

Thanks Paul.

I found they gave an excellent fast service, net shopping and really keen prices. A lot more choice too. Again, like Paul I'm not sure about the IOM. I use my son's business and the 'Ex-pat. donkey trail' to ship stuff to me here!

Thank you guys - very useful and a whole load cheaper than the other places I had found.

I've passed the information on and I will wait and see what I am tasked to install!

Cheers
