What was the problem?
Easily repairable?
In all of the computers, I've ever fixed, it normally means $100+. [Linked Image]

Computers are horrid beasts at the best of times, when i first got a PC i took it to a PC Doctor to get it fixed, after 2 weeks of him coming up with excuses for being an idiot, I took it off him and decided to fix it myself, have built my own since, apart from this one they have all run Linux

This is my only system running Windows, because my AOL software won't run under anything else. By the way, the full official name is "@^&**!**! Windows!"

I ended up having to wipe everything and reinstall from scratch. All my non-Internet work is kept on a separate system, running good "old-fashioned" DOS applications. (Remember those? They're the ones where you could actually run a good, full-featured word processor off a 360KB floppy!)

I'm on the look-out for a good DOS or Unix/Linux based web browser and suitable ISP.

Craig,
Them PC Doctor guys are pretty thick really,
I took a PC to them that had a fault in the
Hard Drive, I picked it up, took it home and hooked it back up again, switched on the System Unit(CPU), BANG!!. [Linked Image]
(The original fault cost me NZ$380)
Further inspection found that there was a screw, of a size, that was unrelated to computers(25mm, Superscrew, Square Drive Head), jammed between the Mother-board and the case, it wrecked the Mother-board, blew the fuse in the PSU, and made me wild!.
The guy at the PC Doctor place, tried to tell me, that it was not his fault that there was a screw inside the CPU, although he was the first person to open it up, the tamper seals, were broken by him.
I am still having arguments with him over who is going to pay for the damaged M/Board,
I won't be going back there though, they can just go and jump.
