Mozilla Firefox version 1.5 has just been released and with it is a whole heap of extensions and themes.
It can be dowloaded from this page
Reason for this post is because there is an interesting add-on for the Firefox browser that I've just had a try-out of on this website and it works quite well.
The thing is called Image Zoom 0.2.2 and at 53kb it's of paltry size.
You can find out more about it here .
So if you use Firefox and would like an easy way to make some of the pics here a bit larger to get a closer look, this may be your cup of tea. [Linked Image]
Best of all, it's free!!!
Enjoy.

Firefox works pretty good, and I use Mozilla Thunderbird for my email client software at home. I really wish that Mozilla would bundle both products into a single application.

Radar,

I really don't see how that could happen.
I use both Fire-fox and Thunderbird and they are 2 totally different things.
I like the way that both of them work.
Other side of the coin, if one crashes, you lose your ability to surf and get e-mail until it is fixed.
I use FF and TB with Linux here so I don't have the "luxury" of using IE to get another version.
It's FF or nothing here.
And that's the way I like it. [Linked Image]

BTW Radar,
It's Open Source stuff,
You can quite freely merge them if you have the know-how, why depend on others to do it for you?.

I'm one of the types of users that our ITS department hates - with a minimum of half a dozen apps open & running all the time and a crowded task bar.

For a long time I used Lotus Notes (standalone workstation) for my browser and email client, and was happy with it until fairly recently. I have also tried Opera browser & email client, and have only one really big objection to it - it is dificult to impossible (for me anyway) to formet text and backgrounds on the fly in emails.

I realize browsing and email client software is quite different, but I would still prefer having one app that did both, maybe with a calendar & other stuff too. However, I most certainly do not have the expertise needed to attempt to combine Firefox & Thunderbird.

Add to that - I have a latent distrust for Mozilla email products based on past experiences with Netscape Mail. I'm using Thunderbird tho, for now at least, and to be fair - I haven't had any problems with it.

At work we're solid MS customers (victims?) with IE and Outlook. I cheat with the browser tho, I use Avant Browser which is an IE browser with tabbed browsing. Pretty cool if, like us, you're stuck with MS products.

Anyone using ImageZoom?.
It works well with ECN, mind you, it doesn't work with (ugh) IE.
Those that have made the move to FFox, will know the difference. [Linked Image]

Couple of other things to add to the Firefox Arsenal:
Sick of those Flash ads on web pages with the annoying guy looking at you?.
If you have Firefox, that is a distant memory.
Get Flashblock 1.5.1

Ever needed to translate a page before and don't want the hassle of Bablefish?.
Have this Fox Lingo 1.5 do it for you.

One important thing to get is Update Notifier .
Anyone have any thoughts on Firefox?.

Sorry the links are on that page but with it being a Secure page, the search is well worth it.

Adblock
AdblockFilterset.G Updater

I love these two, Adblock blocks ads on a page, and the filterset updates adblock, so you don't have to manually block things. I effin love it.
