Hi there Guys,
Just a short post to let you people know that my Computer is now back to it's former glory and some!.
After the Insurance Co paid out on the HV fault that killed it a few months ago, I bought a new K7VM4 board and forgot to buy the RAM card, so I had to use the old FIC board until I had the RAM, as the RAM on that one was only SDR, I needed DDR.
But at the same time (and out of my own pocket), I added:

• 508MB of DDR RAM
• 1 Geforce4 Graphics Card
• 1 DVD player.
• 1 New CD-ROM 52 speed player.
• 1 Flat-Bed USB Scanner
• 1 56K Modem(the old one used to play all sorts of problems)
• 1 extra 80MB HDD
• 1 extra Floppy drive.
• 1 USB Multimedia Keyboard
• 1 Optical Mouse

I can tell you guys, this system is running like a ROCKET and it's cool to be able to have USB capability these days.
What do your systems have?.

Yeah, but out of 78 there about about 7 that are in focus!.
Darn!.

That's a problem I find with my "mini-camera." It's great to slip into a pocket just in case I see anything interesting, but it's so small that it's hard to hold steady while shooting (size is about 2-3/4 x 2 and only 3/8" thick!).

Glad you've got everything back up and running anyway. I finally upgraded my system that I use for the internet at the beginning of the year. I was still using a Pentium 133, and this newer 400MHz system certainly zips along in comparison.

I have a 800 MHz Duron processor and the jump to the DDR RAM seems to have worked wonders and of course the Motherboard helps too!.

To all that helped me after my computer case was damaged and the ensuing problems afterwards, especially the USB port problems, please I would like to extend a great BIG thank you to Scott35, Pauluk and everyone else that helped with advice and held thier cool when times were a bit "fragile".

One thing that this has shown me,
is what is inside my Computer,
Software and Hardware wise.
What percentage of people that own PC's even have a clue what drives thier PC, let alone how to fix it?.

Glad to hear this great news!!!

What I found to be impressive with these P4 based Boards (>x86) was seeing an IRQ above IRQ15!
I am using Machines with x86 based CPUs:
One is P55C-MMX-233MHZ (last "P5" type before "Pentium II").
Two Machines with Pentium II CPUs - both built on AL440 chipset based Boards.
One is PII-233MHZ (AL440-LX based chipset), the other is PII-400MHZ (AL440-BX based chipset).

My Wife's new Machine is Pentium 4 based.

Cannot wait to stepup to modern Machines for my Workstations! Plans for what to build have been lingering for way too long!

Have fun with your new peripherals! You have a nice level of DRAM to work with (Double-Data Rate RAM).

See those pics as soon as you get them cleaned up and stuff! A nice graphics 'app will be a new fun toy for playing with images!

p.s. I saw 80 MB listed for the H.D.D. - that is (hopefully) a typo. Meant to be 80 GB...

I'm crusing along at home with a 500 Meg Pentium 3. It does, however, have 768 megs of RAM. Upgrading the memory is undoubtly the best money I've ever spent on hardware. It almost never slows down and all the important parts of the programs stay loaded. The only thing I notice that is slow is Acrobat Reader but it is still slow in the gig and a half machines at work. I also bought a used 20 inch monitor a while back and that really helps my tired eyes.

You guys make me feel materialistic.
I am running 3 boxes plus a laptop that are are above 1 gig on the processor.
The main box has an AMD 2 gig processor, 1 gig of DDR memory, a 52x burner, a DVD drive, scanner, USB camera, DSL with a router, flat screen monitor.

I always build my own.

I'm sure that like me, you remember the time not so long ago when 80 MB was considered to be a HUGE disk!

My neighbor gave me an old Hard drive of his a few years ago that he tried to sell but couldn't. It was a little less than 80M but he couldn't bear to just throw it out becasue it cost him over $4,000 at the time!!

I have an old self-built P3 1000 which seems to do me just fine. The kids have 2 new P4 2.6G machines so they leave my Dinosaur (that still has the 5-1/4 drive in it) alone.

What's really funny is when someone gets behind my Kit, when it is setup with double Kicks (Double Bass Drums) and a remote Hi Hat set!

The puzzled look preceeds the common Q:

"How do you use 4 pedals???"

Showing them is cool (they seem to enjoy the Drums even more!).

BTW, did you post a pic of your Drum Kit in that thread about Musical Instruments? It was running in the General Discussion area about 6-8 Months ago.

If I can find it, I'll insert a link to it (or we might start a new thread... hint, hint, hint ...)
