I need help in finding information on true RMS amp meters. I am tring to buy true RMS meters for our maintenance dept. The supervisor wants to buy non-rms because they are cheaper. I told him why we should purchase the rms but he does not understand. Can some refer me to a printed artical that would better explain it to him than I can?

There may be applicable info at: http://www.fluke.com/download/library/1260362_w.pdf http://www.fluke.com/Application_Notes/ElectricalPower/GO416b_u.pdf http://www.fluke.com/Application_Notes/ElectricalPower/B0333A.pdf

A search at ecmweb.com will likely yield supporting material.

Depending on what equipment you maintain you may not need a RMS meter. Anything that is electronic in nature will require a RMS meter to accuratly trouble shoot at some point in time.
If your boss does not want to spend the money, just tell him that supply has a lot troubleshooting aids. We will just change things out untill we finally fix it or have rebuilt it. [Linked Image]
