here's a few shots of some old tar wiring that is also aluminum.

they're not the best pix here, but what i did is strip back two pieces

look closely, and you can see the neutral of one having taken on some overheated tar (it stripped harder)

Are you sure it is aluminum and not tinned copper?

I cannot ever recall seeing aluminum wire that was not thermoplastic insulation.

naw this is AL Mike, brittle stuff too. Ring the conductors just a tad, and they'll break when a door slams too hard.
