The two attached photos show why cable TV system needs to be bonded to the electrical system GEC.

Lightning or a cross connection can impose a high voltage on the Cable system and it needs a place to go. Fortunately the damage was minimal. The electric service to one unit was disconnected until it could be checked for other damage. Cable company wires were cut after
the incident.

Cable wire showed melting for several feet up from the
point where it was connected to the electrical system grounding electrode conductor.
