Found this in a hotel room I was staying in, as a far as code goes I’m not sure, I just like the convenience of it.

As you can see the lock lever is in the way of the switch.

Poor design, but it would really be stretching for a NEC violation.

Are those screws in the door loose?

The hook on the door is definitly not tight to the door. Looks like the screws are loose.

Good catch jdevlin, I noticed that too when I was reviewing the picture. I don't think I ever noticed that when I took the picture, I don't remember.

Could one be looking at an adjustable automatic door-operated light-switch? In that case, the screws may appear to be loose but merely go to indicate the state of the adjustment.

On the other hand, the two, [ small I do assure you ], glasses of 'The Balvenie' single malt that I imbibed after supper this evening may be clouding my judgement somewhat.

This is a new style of dead bolt. When the burglar breaks into the room, the door latch flys backward and turns on the room lights, so that he won't trip over anything in the room! smile

Now that is funny!!! Perhaps a way to keep crooks from filling frivolous law suites.

We are all better off now.
