I'm sending you a couple of photo's of some minus 30 C. days from our days in Winnipeg, Manitoba for you to post if you want.

It kind of gives me some pangs of empathy when everyone mentions snow and cold.

Winter? What's that?

Here in Texas, we have four seasons:

Almost-summer
Summer
Still-summer
Deer season!

I saw snow a couple of years ago one weekend when I drove out west to the Hill Country. There was about 1/2" of it. My wife stayed at home and said there was no snow here.

Sometimes I miss snow, until I look at pictures like this and remember getting up at 5 AM to shovel it (which isn't as bad as having to work with freezing fingers, or when your hammer misses the staple and the Romex shatters!).

We do get ice storms, about once a year or so. Then we get hailstorms that ruin roofs and put golf-ball-sized dents in cars. That's about it.

We just started running the air conditioner a few days ago, and I put the jobsite fan in my truck, just in case. Haven't need to use that yet.

Here's a bunch from last year. https://www.electrical-contractor.net/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000861.html

Funny part is up here in coastal Maine we had virtually no snow this year.

As you can likely guess, we weren't doing any rough-ins that month in unheated structures like garages. It stayed around minus 30 C. for January and most of February. When it finally warmed up to minus 10 C. in March we went nuts doing rough-ins. The whole construction industry suffered for two months with nothing to do. That, however is not unusual for Winnipeg. I'm no longer in Winnipeg (Edmonton now) but this winter on the Praries in Canada it rarely got below minus 15 C. so there was lots going on for all the contractors. -a welcome change.

these were taken as we left for work one day in January.........we had only 4 days of terribly bitter subzero temps.........unusual for northern Wisconsin.

I can only hope that wans't a job for pulling Romex. Those photos in Wisconson look like a spot not far from the place I left in Winnipg last August. Pulling Romex at those negative 30 temps is impossible. Even doing EMT and Rigid makes my hands turn blue and the outer skin turn white with frostbite makes me glad I changed jobs (albeit 35 yearws ago). And now that I've retired from aviation, here I'm back at it again, this time in Edmonton. Electrical Journeman just never seem to know when to quit do they? We must be too cold blooded to quit this stuff even at age 60.

Here in Texas, we have four seasons:

Almost-summer

Still-summer

As opposed to Britain, where we have:

Gray, damp, chilly, & windy
Even grayer, damper, colder, & windier
Still gray, damp, chilly, & windy
Almost-summer (3 days in August)

The snow never stays around that long though. It was gone in a couple of days.

Just looking at Check Pilot's pictures and noticed last year we did not have Ice dams forming on the roof edges like we do this year from the warm weather.

Roofing contractors in Winnipeg are backlogged with calls from homeowners to come remove the snow before it melts and backs up under the shingles and damages the ceilings.
One news report on Friday had a person saying they had water dripping out of a ceiling fixture from the melting.

Beginning of Feb I was out with my roof rake taking snow off my roof as the ice was stating to form them.

On the plus side I only used the block heater on my truck for a few days when we did get a cold snap so my electric bill is lower than last year.

You guys jinxed me with your snow pictures. I looked at this thread and was going to take some pictures of the green grass and trees that were starting to bloom in Southern Utah. But, before I could get the camera I got 3 days of snow worth 18" at my house.

That'll show me to brag...

(Here in Texas, we have four seasons:

Here in South Dakota we have five seasons:
almost winter,(Sep.-Oct.)
winter,(Nov.-Feb)
still winter,(Mar.-May)
road construction,(Jun.-Aug.1st)
and Sturgis motorcycle rally.(first two full weeks in August)

will send some pics to Trumpy tomorrow. Nothing but white here in the Black Hills.

I think this pic is from the storm we called White Juan in 04. A great way to keep the beer cold especially since the power was out for days in some places.lol
