The pole is just trying to get a better look down the street

Aw....and I thought it was the magnetic field emanating from the substation across the street.
I wonder how often (if ever) a POCO will "sound" poles to detect rot before they fall over?
Mike (mamills)
Yeah...it's just trying to be nearer its mates over the road
Or listen-in to the whispers

Down here with the Texas tidal plane clay soil, the county flood control district is constantly cleaning out the drainage ditches along the road... this involves removing a good amount of dirt. Then, over the years, as the surrounding dirt slowly migrates back into the ditch, the poles alongside begin leaning in to the ditch. And I mean leaning. Some of them are darned scary!
Mine are in peat (central Scotland), though there may well be shale mines underneath. There's a 'bing' - spent shale, in the back left of the first picture.
I guess it's the wires that hold these up, though it's the westerly gales that blow 'em over!
