I thought that I would post something a little different than many may have seen. The box on the top of this wellhead was installed by an electrician violating not electrical code but violating the well venting requirements. It was installed by removing the well vent. Granted I am involved mainly in electrical only, but it helps to have an idea of what is going on elsewhere to avoid creating problems for others. This well head has other problems such as it does not extend high enough above grade, the sealtight (LFMC) is subject to damage (heavy snow loads) and is supported only by a buried PVC condulet tee, not rated for direct burial (the tee and the sealtight).

The splices to the probe wires should have been made inside the wellhead with a permanent and waterproof connectors just as the conductors for the well pump and submersible pump cable were. I suppose that some may ask if the well head is a listed electrical junction box. I don't think so, but I approve the method.

Thanks,
Shane

strange, typically the forward portution shown would house the incomming circuit...

Correct, The PVC circuit does normally contain the circuit for the probes, but in this case has only the pump conductors.
