Here are a couple of pictures I saw of a mast where the service drop is below the eave of the building. So what do you do? You just cut a hole in the roof/eave and pass the service drop right through it. The siding was aluminum and it looked sharp:

It's amazing that some people just completely don't comprehend what kind of power is in a utility drop!! [Linked Image]

Conduit shouldve been ran to the end of the building.

My guess is that the electric came before the roof and soffit.

But that's just a guess

At least the rain going down the wires will cool off the areas that have their insulation scraped off by the soffet.

Perhaps I am evil. It's a possibility. [Linked Image]

I've run masts through the soffit, albeit high enough for a drip loop, and with cleaner holes.

Did they use a roof jack for the upper hole?

Edit: Oh- I see it. Yeah, the conductors running along the side of the building is bad too! [Linked Image]

My guess would also be that the mast and service was there first. Then some roofers added the soffet and cut holes for the service drop. Then they wonder what they did wrong when they get shocked and fall off scaffolds. Go Figure!

Iwire (Bob) showed that to us a wee while back, although of larger conductor size and higher PSCC, look at how close this is to the supplying transformer.
This is what seperates us from the rest.

That pipe has either got to go a few feet higher above the roof line, or put a 90ยบ bend before the roof line and run it out to the edge of the building (to the left of where it is now). The way that thing looks now is shameful.
