The photo 100A W/H, is a Single Phase, 240V, 4500W Heater fed via a 100A Fused Circuit. I guess they won't have to worry about tripping the circuit in a fault situation.

If upstream from the disconnect the water heater is protected by the proper ocpd (ie. the feeding panel or gear), then there's no problem...

On the otherhand, the deep P-Ring looks a bit suspect being nailed to the plywood.... Not to mention the grounding bar that appears to not-so-firmly be attached to the above can....

1. The W/H is protected by a 100A 3P breaker in the sub panel...the 100A 3P Fused disconect and (2) #4 THWN to the heater itself.

2. The 2" Plaster Ring is not intended for this use and is screwed to the plywood. This is a circuit for a bailer in a different area of the bldg.

Ahh Rob,
Now the penny has dropped, it was you that sent me the pics.
Just a little note to you guys that send us Mods pictures.
Could you please give your ECN Username as well, I don't know all of you guys' email addresses.
Hence the attributing the pics to Robert.
Not a big thing but it does save a bit of confusion.

Calloway & Rosedale?? You mean the old Save-Mart behind the Chevron? You're working literally about a mile from my house [Linked Image] The closest Wal Mart (Rosedale & Coffee) was alive and kicking to ungodly proportions today [Linked Image] [Linked Image]

Sierra Electrician, I trust you are using the term "protected" loosely! [Linked Image]
