Just love the flex going accross the janitors sink, I guess we can be glad it is not done more often,not to mention other issues like support......

Seriously though, how could someone do this? It had to have been assumed that it was temporary and was going to go, otherwise, no inspector ever laid eyes on it.

it looks like theres been some kind of wooden cabinet-work removed from that wall. it may even have been a typical "cleaners cupboard" with a low sink, with the flexible conduit running through it. If this is the case, then whoever removed that cupboard and plumbed in that sink box-thing is at fault. Does anyone else think thats plausible ? ?

The box thing is a mop sink.
My guess is that the sink was there first. It has a drain in the bottom, and if it had been added after the transformer,there would be some evidence of the drain being cut in. The floor doesn't show that to me. The xfrmr looks much newer.

Kevin, is that a panel in the right corner?
Would an electrician stand in the sink to work on it?
The upside? They left you a $10 J Box, still in its wrapping.

Yes, there is a panel to the right, it's being feed by the xfrmr. There is one to the left of the xfrmr too.

The room looks like an old janators closet. The xfrmr was installed and panels were installed during the renovation.

My biggest feer is what the room is going to look after a few months... cleaning supplies on top of the xfrmr and a wet mod hung over the surface mounted panel?

Not exactly the most ventilated of places to install a transformer.
Is that some sort of a switch or outlet above the sink?.
