A friend of mine asked me to do an inspection on the property/mobile home he wanted to buy.

He said he didn't feel that the home inspector that called it all OK caught everything, he wanted a second opinion.

What's your opinion??...S

Hello Scott:

The inspector may have overlooked this situation where there are many serious hazards, or just didn't think they were important. I wonder if the inspector looked under the unit?

I'll bet you did, right!!

Mobile homes, when not properly maintained, or when wired by those who are not familiar with recognized wirng methods, can become the cause of a serious fire or shock hazard.

Violation Notice:

Violations to numerous to mention, meet the electrical inspector on the job!

This is message that does not include a detailed punch list, which no inspector should ever have to supply!

Was this located in Los Angeles California?

Better call in a tornado strike for this one. [Linked Image]

Reminds me of the last job I went on. Home inspector said to fill the ground holes on the receptacles because they were only 2 wire, otherwise the electric was OK. Sure made the homeowner happy when I told him about the 5 open splices I found in an open attic room, just inside the door where if you went in you had to look to keep from stepping on them. Also found several other serious problems that the inspector missed.

Joe, the home inspector called the bathroom bad, with no GFCI recep, and never saw the panel where the GFI circuit breaker, which worked perfectly, was located.
I'm not meaning to pick on the home inspectors at all, but he gave the entire property a good "Bill of health".
This is in a rural area of Riverside County, not LA.

GOOD NEWS!!
From my friend's "persistence", they have driven a new well, and connected it, with permits.

Let's see what this looks like?
I'll bet you guys will find a violation?
PS Geeze, it's 15 miles on dirt (mud) roads.
I'll try to get an "after" picture...S

Here I thought it was just smoke from that piece of burnt flex left of center in the picture.

LOL Scott! We recently had a serious thunderstorm and tornado warnings. The next day I headed to the bus stop, and everyone was all of the sudden afraid of tornadoes, claiming that we've never had a tornado warning, which we definately HAVE. No tornados, yet some did destroy a Ewing NJ Street four miles across the river, and yes, every utility pole for half a mile was knocked down.

Personally, if an inspector can miss this sort of thing, he needs either bi-focals, a magnifyng glass or the Hubble telescope.
I would have thought that the out-of-plumb tank in the back would have been a sign to have a decent look at this one.
Or even the panel cover that's sitting down by the pump motor. [Linked Image]
