Hi all, I have a question regarding the new fire alarm code, CAN/ULC-S524. It says the supply and return conductors of an addressable loop must be in separate raceways or cables. Does anybody know if you can run the signal conductors in one of these raceways or do you need a separate raceway? Thanks for any help.

I don't see anything about that in that standard nor in our code book.

Check with the company that will be doing the verification. Maybe ask the question in an email so the answer is in writing.

Down here in the lower half of the continent the concern is just that the entire system could be compromised if the single raceway is damaged; thus the requirement for a separate raceway.
I've never heard of an issue regarding the signal wiring; just the backbone of the system.

twh is right; an emailed question is probably the best way to handle it.
